imagine1day
Imagine1day International has been focused exclusively on implementing projects that contribute to Ethiopia’s commitment to universal primary education since 2007. The goal is to ensure all Ethiopians have access to quality education funded free of foreign aid by 2030. Working under Ethiopia’s public education system, and in partnership with the federal, regional, and district government education offices in the country, Imagine1day has demonstrated an ability to reach OOSC and implement education activities, which have significantly improved enrolment, retention, and succession rates in primary education.
Since 2007, imagine1day has been focused on implementing projects that contribute to the realisation of universal primary education in Ethiopia. Imagine1day impacts approximately 490 primary schools and 265,000 people each year through education and leadership development, aiming to ensure all Ethiopians have access to quality education free of foreign aid by 2030.
Working with Ethiopia’s education system and in alignment with federal, regional and district government education offices, imagine1day has demonstrated an ability to reach out of school children and undertake initiatives, which significantly improve enrolment, retention and succession rates in primary education.
Through the EAC partnership, imagine1day is implementing the Bale Out of School Children Initiative (BOOSCI) and the Community Driven Primary Education for All Initiative. The BOOSCI project seeks to increase the primary school net enrolment rate from 52 to 87 percent and retain students in the Dello Mena and Meda Welabu districts. Moreover, BOOSCI will work to create conditions to dramatically reduce the dropout rate in the Bale Zone of Oromia.
Regarding the Community Driven Initiative, this project will impact 260 schools and communities across the Barbare and Sawena districts in Oromia, as well as the Ahferom, Endamekhoni and Merab Lekhe districts in Tigray. The ultimate goal is to increase the primary school net enrolment rate across those five target districts from 66 to 89 percent by the end of 2018.
