Educate Every Child

EAA believes that no child or youth should be left behind when it comes to receiving a quality, formal or non-formal education. Analysis of the barriers faced by those who are out of school helps build a better understanding of the issue and its complexity.

The work of EAA and its current partners, and the growing international literature on the subject, has enabled us to identify nine main barriers to quality education: Poverty; Challenging geographies; Conflict, Insecurity and instability; Refugee status; Gender discrimination; Special needs education; Lack of infrastructure; Lack of human, material and financial resources; and Lack of quality education.

Due to an unwavering commitment to excellence and understanding that quality education in each country has its own context, we have been able to maintain a non-prescriptive approach where we rely on our partners’ expertise to formulate the best solutions to each of the barriers that millions of children and youth face every day.

Finding solutions to the barriers to education can also provide indirect benefits. In building the capacities of a school’s support system, we can provide community members with tools that can support sustainability beyond our intervention.
